These Chains (words and music by Alan Gillis)

Thoughts of perfect love that we knew
Haunting me, haunting me
I hang on every word you said - the plans we made
To stay right here forever - always together
And I can't let go - I'm not ready to let you go

I've got chains around my heart
I'm captive to the life that we shared
I can't move on - I can't move on
I'm your prisoner
No-one can see the bars that keep me here
But I can't move on, I'll always be here
I can't move on from these chains

Since you've gone, I'm just a hollow shell
Of the man I used to be
Remembering all the things we said
You made me believe that we'd always be together
Lovers forever and
I can't let go - I'm not ready to let you go

Repeat chorus

I've got these chains around my heart
Chains around my heart
I'm your prisoner
I've got these chains around my heart
I can't move on
I've got these chains around my heart
I can't let go - I'm your prisoner

Story Behind the Song:
After numerous remixes I think this one is as good as it's going to get. I built the song around a repetitive chord sequence and then made a point of recording it when my voice was a bit husky, to try and give it a different sound to my norm. As usual I'm a little unsure about the genre.
